HUL'Q'UMIN'UM
INRODUCTORY LEVEL LANGUAGE COURSE

The Hul'q'umin'um Language is very unique and possesses sounds that are unfamiliar in other languages. The language has been an oral language and until recently, it was not a written language.

There are three components of the language provided in this course. They are pronunciation, grammar, and vocabulary. These components are integrated together so the learner can concentrate in learning words and phrases that can be used in everyday situations.

The student will also learn the language through Coast Salish cultural activities. Oral and written exams will be given at the end of each unit.

The instructor will be a qualified Hul'q'umin'um language speaker. This course is open to all students and is an accredited elective.
