APPLIED COMPUTER SCIENCE 9/10 XCS9/10S
An introduction to computer applications. Concepts covered are word processing for reports and essays, graphic formats and graphic programs, multimedia and electronic communications.

This is a half semester course which may be combined with CAPP 9 or CAPP 10.

COMPUTER SCIENCE 9/10 CS9/10
This course introduces students to the world of computers. Topics to be covered will include word processing, graphics design, data bases, spreadsheets, and computer programming. The emphasis will be on using the computer as a tool, gaining confidence in learning how to use the computer to perform a variety of complex tasks. Assignments will be designed to be both interesting and useful for students.

INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY 11 INT 11
Information Technology 11 will replace the current course, Computer Studies 11. It is an academic course designed to introduce students to areas of central importance to modern computing. These areas are: programming, electronic communications, multi media and computer networks.
Students who intend to specialize in math, science, computer science or engineering at a post secondary institution should include this course in their program.

Note: Students whose primary interest is computer applications (Desk top publishing, databases, etc.) should choose DP 11 rather than INT 11.

INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY 12 INT 12
The major focus of this course is programming using Turbo Pascal. Students will design, document, code, error-check and test programs. Topics selected will build upon the numeric, graphic and string processing skills covered in CS 11 and add data types arrays, records and files. In addition to Pascal, the course includes units on Operating Systems (DOS and Windows) and computer architecture. This is an academic course and should be attempted only if a student obtained at least C+ in INT 11 and has a solid background in mathematics.

COMPUTER SCIENCE AP APCSC 12S
In the 1996-97 school year CS AP will receive additional credit. To register for credit, students must have completed Computer Science 12 and must have an interview with the Technology Department Head.
Topics covered prepare students to write the Computer Science AP exam in May. These topics are program construction, top-down design, recursion, sorting algorithms, data structures using records, searching algorithms. This course will give students 2 credits in addition to the 4 credits for INT 12.
